My Focke Wulf FW190 A3

Description

Here is my latest model, a 1/48 scale model of a Focke Wulf FW-190 A-3. This was a snap together model kit made by Pegasus Hobbies that I decided to make as my own custom Focke Wulf, with historically accurate details.

The reich or geschwader band, representing the Jagdgeschwader ("JG" for short or "Wing Unit" in english) my Focke Wulf is a part of, is of my own paint scheme. After looking up different reich bands that existed, I decided to make one that didn't.

I also had to do some research on the "position" markings, the markings that represent the pilot's position of the wing unit. I decided to go with the double chevron and vertical bar markings (<+-) used by pilots who played the role as Geschwader Kommodore (Wing Commander).

For painting the camouflage, I used the same technique for painting my Erich Hartmann BF-109 G-6. Spray painting the whole plane Light Blue, then using UHU-Tac to outline and mask the shapes that are Panzer Gray and Euro I Gray. You can get UHU-Tac at basically any store that sells office supplies.

The paint scheme and designs were inspired by photo references as well as historical records of the Focke Wulf FW-190.

So basically what I did was make my own wing unit and made myself commander of this wing unit.

Also for those who are wondering about the colors I used, I'm not gonna give you that RLM stuff... It's too confusing. So I'm giving you a list of the spray paints I used. They are:
- Light Blue (Luftwaffe) AS-5 Tamiya
- Panzer Gray FS 36076 Model Master
- Euro I Gray FS 36081 Model Master
- Matt Black TS-6 Tamiya
- Italian Red TS-8 Tamiya

Anyway, hope you guys like it. Take care.

When it comes to diecast WWII aircraft models, which brand do you consider superior: HobbyMaster or Corgi?
